Well, it’s here. Spike is now your new best friend, at least when using your Signal Hound. We expect there are going to be lots of questions (and comments too). Feel free to post it all in this forum… it’ll help the rest of the world learn all about Spike.
It’s midnight here in the UK and the new s/w has just popped up. Do we have to install the new USB drivers or will they be downloaded and installed along with Spike? Thanks.

The zip file you download contains the drivers, if you don’t already have them from a previous install. You still have to install them separately as a second step. We will continue trying to simplify the process, but for now it is a two step install if you don’t have the drivers already installed.Hey Andy,
If you have previously installed our SA44/SA124 software, you should not need to install the USB drivers, but we are including the latest FTDI USB drivers with the download package, and downloading them is fast. The installer does not install the drivers, so new users or installations on new computers will need to install the USB drivers.
The installer does install the BB60 drivers, but due to the way FTDI packages their drivers in the latest version, they have to installed separately.

OK. I’ll just install Spike, as I have drivers from my previous install. I’ll probably leave it ’til tomorrow morning now, as if it doesn’t go to plan I won’t sleep! Thanks for all your hard work.
It’s installed and working beautifully, no crashes or errors and the sweeps are MUCH quicker. Just to start the day with a stupid question – how do I get it to store an image in JPG format? It defaults to PNG and I can’t find a way to change it.
Nice, have been playing with it for a few hours.
How do I get the trig function to work in zero span?? Tried all sorts of settings but it kept on sweeping. Had to revert back to 2.18 for this measurement.What about markers in the 2-d plot? Would be handy for measuring duration…
OK, the Spike install went off without a hitch. The dashboard opened up into a different world that I’m used to so I have to re navigate and locate all the options past and now new. I must admit I’m a tad overwhelmed so it’s print the manual and off to the head for some serious study !
So far Spike is looking pretty good but he’s still a pup ….

To save as a JPG, simply enter the file name you want to save with the .jpg extension.Lasse,
Once you have set your trigger type to Video, and have selected a trigger level and edge, the software begins looking for the trigger. If one is not found after a period, then the screen will update with the ‘armed’ text. If a trigger is found then you will see the trigger with the ‘triggered’ text. If the ‘single’ button is pressed, the software will stop when the next trigger is found. For a rising edge trigger, the software will register a trigger when the input power rises above the selected level. A pulsed amplitude input is an easy way to test this functionality.Regards,

Thank you for notifying me of this. This appears to be an issues for serial numbers starting with 0. I will begin working on a fix today.

Download your calibration file manually from here

Rename the file from D03000181.bin to D 3000181.bin (notice I replaced the first zero with a space) and place the file in the folder
C:\ProgramData\SignalHound\cal_files
The ProgramData folder is hidden, you will have to show hidden folders in the windows settings, (you can google how to do this if you do not know). You might then have to create the SignalHound and cal_files folder. Drop the calibration file in that folder and then try the starting the software again.If you do not want to do this, you can wait a day or two for a fix.

I took you literally when you said, “Rename the file from D03000181.bin to D 03000181.bin (notice I replaced the first zero with a space) and place the file in the folder”.
I renamed the file D 03000181.bin and it still didn’t work. It wasn’t until I re-read the sentence and noticed you meant to say D 3000181.bin 🙂
It works now and I’m off to try out your new program.

I’m glad you managed to resolve the issue. I just noticed a number of typos in my post. I apologize for the confusion.I have also just released an update to the software, version 3.0.1, on the Spike download page. This update has tentatively addressed the issue you have seen. Ockhams BarberI’m still having trouble saving screen images in JPG format. It works fine if I use .bmp or .png, but .jpg saves nothing, there is no sign of the jpg file in the folder. It’s not a major issue, but I’ve always stored my screen-grabs in jpg format and I don’t really want to change.
